Our midwives provide antenatal care.
Contraceptive Services
All doctors provide contraceptive services. These include the pill, coil, contraceptive implant and contraceptive injections. Advice on barrier methods is available, as is emergency contraception ('morning after pill').
Cervical Smears
These can be carried out by appointment, by our practice nurse or the doctor.
Child Health
Immunisation clinics and developmental care for children up to 5 years is provided by the Health Visitors.
Child Health Immunisation Clinic
These clinics are held by the health visitors on a Tuesday morning.
Paediatric Nurses
The Practice is a pilot site for a new Paediatric Hub. Experienced Paediatric nurses hold clinics each morning treating children up to their third birthday for conditions including:
Hand foot and mouth, Ear and chest infections, Chicken pox, Conjunctivitis and other minor illness.
Minor Surgery
Minor surgical procedures are carried out within the Practice. Please discuss this with your doctor.
Minor Surgery / Vasectomy
Dr Selva Annamalai carries out both Minor surgical procedures, including removal of lesions, incisions, aspirations and injections, and Non-Scalpel-Vasectomies in the dedicated Minor Surgery suite at the Medical Centre.
Minor Injury
The practice provides a minor injury walk-in facility where treatment can be given, without an appointment, for injuries such as cuts and bruises, minor burns, sprains, strains and joint dislocations.
Influenza And Pneumonia Vaccinations
These immunisations are given to a certain category of patients by our practice nurses.
Travel Advice And Immunisation Clinic
Our nurses offer vaccinations and advice about foreign travel. Please complete our Travel vaccination and Consent form (PDF, 223KB) and hand in to the treatment area at least 8 weeks before your travel date. An appointment will then be booked for a nurse to call you and discuss what vaccinations are required (if any) and they will book the appointment for these to be administered if needed.Please note that not all vaccinations are available on the NHS and there may be a charge for some. We may also have to order in your vaccinations if we do not already have them in stock. Remember you might find a great last-minute holiday – but we can’t do a last minute vaccination!
Fees
Vaccines available on the NHS for which no charge is made:
- Typhoid
- Diptheria/Tetanus/Polio (Revaxis)
- Hepatitis A
- Cholera (2 oral doses)
Vaccines we purchase and administer for a fee:
- Hepatitis B (course of 3 doses)
- Meningitis ACWY (but free if under 25 and going to University)
Vaccines for which we issue a prescription and we administer for a fee:
- Japanes B Encephalitis (course of 3 doses)
- Tick Borne Encephalitis (course of 3 doses)
- Rabies (course of 3 doses)
Anti-malarials
Paludrine and Chloroquinine – free advice. You can purchase over the counter at a Pharmacy.
Malarone, Doxycycline and Larium – we charge a private prescription fee and you pay the cost of the Tablets to the Pharmacy.
Malerone may be available at some pharmacies without prescription, however prices do vary – please check with your pharmacist.
Asthma/Respiratory Clinic
These clinics are run by Jo Dodds, Kate Ferrison and Mandy Healy who are asthma specialist nurses, in conjunction with the GP’s.
Diabetes Clinic
These clinics are run by Marie Mawby and Karen Morgan who are diabetic specialist nurses.
Cardiovascular Disease Clinic
Mandy Healy and Marie Mawby are trained in cardiovascular medicine and run these clinics in conjunction with Dr Ellis.
Smoking Cessation
Smoking cessation advice and support is available through your doctor or nurse.
